Vietnam’s Rising Demand for Imported Wood

Vietnam’s domestic wood supply falls short of meeting the growing demand in both export manufacturing and local furniture consumption. In 2024, domestic plantation forests yielded only around 23.3 million m³ of timber.

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s total wood and wood product import turnover reached USD 2.81 billion, marking a 28.1% increase compared to 2023.

Vietnam sources wood from over 100 countries, mainly for high-end furniture production and export to the US, EU, and Japan.
