Cost-Effective and Comprehensive Cargo Transportation from Vietnam to Cambodia

23/09/2025

Cargo transportation from Vietnam to Cambodia has been expanding rapidly, driven by rising import–export demand between the two countries. Thanks to the shared border, short transit times, and competitive costs, this route is one of the key corridors for both road and air freight for Vietnamese businesses

Updates on Vietnam–Cambodia Transportation

In August 2025, Decree 167/2025/ND-CP officially took effect, introducing new regulations on cross-border transport. Under the new rules, shipments from Vietnam to Cambodia must go through officially designated international checkpoints agreed by both governments.

However, the current quota of 800 cross-border vehicles under the Vietnam–Cambodia transport agreement falls short of growing demand. To address this, the General Department of Customs has proposed expanding quotas or opening additional bilateral checkpoints equipped with customs forces and infrastructure, creating better conditions for import–export enterprises.

These changes strengthen the outlook for Vietnam–Cambodia transport, especially for industries such as agriculture, processed food, construction materials, and industrial goods.

How Long Does It Take to Ship from Vietnam to Cambodia?

The distance from Vietnam to Cambodia ranges from 240 km to over 1,000 km depending on the origin and destination. For example, the Ho Chi Minh City–Phnom Penh route is only about 240 km, making it ideal for road freight.

Transit times:

  • By road: 2–3 days
  • By air: 1 day for express shipments
